Coming up the crest of a hill on a concession road in Grey County, this farm suddenly pops into view. Both the house and barn have weathered to a distinct silvery grey colour, and almost have a transparent appearance against the landscape. Across the road sits a very modern home, once again exemplifying the contrast of old and new. It is a very serene and beautiful piece of property. Peace surrounds the home and the fields. The property is dated 1902, but the house itself may be much older.
The house is mostly devoid of any shrubbery. Tall grass provides a calm surrounding blanket.
A view from the gated entrance at the sideroad.
This house is somewhat unique in it's architecture. Notice the enclosed entrance to the cellar at the front of the home. This would have been the easiest access point, as the ground in front of the house slopes downward. Most cellar entrances are located at the sides and front. This one runs right beneath the front porch.
A view from the rear showing the still holding wooden shingles.
The house is faced with faux stone exterior paneling.
A shot of the front porch and front entrance. I imagine many sunsets were watched from the old kitchen chair. One can almost picture the image of an old farmer sitting in the chair, possibly pondering his existence. My instinct tell me that a man once lived alone here.
Another image of the front porch. Directly beneath is the cellar entrance. The porch was sheltered from the prevailing winds on the east side.
The front door and screen door. The home was very well secured.

The cellar entrance. Not safe enough to explore, common sense prevails.

The barn and a shed as seen from the front left of the house.

The barn stands very tall and very proud. A busy hornets nest kept me outside, images coming soon!

The barn has been proudly dated.
