I came across this property by luck. One sunny day while driving, I noticed a flash of a reflection back in the trees. I investigated a little further, and discovered that there was a house hidden in the bush set far back from the road. The reflection was cast from the sun hitting the old tin roof. I had driven past this location hundreds of times in an eight year period, and never noticed it before.

The house has a wooden shingled exterior and a tin roof. What were once probably ornamental shrubs have completely overgrown and dominated the front of the house.

A view from the front.

A view from the rear of the house.

A view of the left side.

Another view from the rear of the property. The surrounding grounds were very rocky, which would have made farming difficult and laborious.

This image shows how well hidden the house is. Most of the front of the property is very wet and marshy. These images were taken in the spring. A visit to the property in the warmer months ended up being a battle of man versus various biting bugs that made the marsh their home.

Since the front door was wrapped in a tangle of shrubs and branches, I entered through the rear door.

A view of the main floor indicates that this house has been empty for many years. Flattened cardboard had been nailed to some of the walls, probably as a last ditch attempt to keep the draft out. I think the cardboard was the only insulation from the cold bitter winds of winter.

The staircase. A few creaks, but otherwise solid. As usual, I proceeded with caution.

A view looking up. What waits for me?

A view of the top floor. Extensive decay made walking around somewhat hazardous, so I didn't venture too far.
